Announcements and Important Events
Attached is an updated schedule for the track season through April and on May 3rd as well. Practices for all athletes will be from 230-400 on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday for the next two weeks with information about the potential track meet on the 23rd of April (Friday before vacation) coming out later.
All cancellations for practices will be sent out via email and posted on www.gokms.com as well as announced for students who are in the building. These decisions are usually made by noon.
Track is run a little differently this year with the pandemic and COVID protocols and athletes have been split into 3 groups of equal numbers and each having one of our track coaches. All workouts and practices are laid out the same for each group. Each group as well has practice at least 3 times a week.
All practices will be outside moving forward, so students should bring the appropriate gear. As spring and warmer weather comes around, athletes will need to make sure they also have the appropriate footwear for practice (regular sneakers). Athletes can not practice with sandals or barefoot.
Practice COVID Protocols:
Each athlete will follow the same COVID protocols as we follow during the school day. Athletes are required to wear a mask the entire session. These masks must be the same type they use for school (No Buffs, ones with vents, etc). Athletes should bring their own water bottle to practice. Having their name on it, does help if one gets left behind. Athletes should wear appropriate athletic clothing when at practice. When we begin to go outside, athletes should be aware that they should have potential warmer / cold weather clothing.
For athletes, who are not face to face at KMS, they should come to practice with a daily screening form. These forms should be filled out prior to entering the building. If an athlete shows any signs or symptoms, please let the coaches know and keep the athlete home. We will be doing temperature checks prior to every practice. It is recommended, but not required that athletes leave practice with warm clothing on (sweatshirt, sweatpants, etc).
